While the vehicle was stopped, the suspect apparently fled on foot into the nearby woods. A manhunt ensued that closed down Interstate 74 near mile marker 17 for several hours. The individual was not apprehended.

A joint investigation involving the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the Springfield Police Department, ATF, DEA and other agencies identified the man as a possible leader in the drug operation. He is suspected of selling drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana. During a search of the suspect’s home, significant amounts of illegal drugs were allegedly seized as was a Glock 9-millimeter pistol. At last report, the man had still not been apprehended.
